The film revolves around the lives of three friends, Anjali (Kajol), Aman (Jackie Shroff), and Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), who meet while studying at St. Xavier's College in London. The story takes off when Rahul falls in love with Anjali, but she is already engaged to Aman. As Rahul tries to navigate his feelings and move on, he meets a young and quirky Tina (Rani Mukerji), who bears an uncanny resemblance to Anjali. As Rahul spends more time with Tina, he begins to fall for her, but his past feelings for Anjali continue to haunt him.
