The film takes place six months after the events of the first Iron Man film. Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is under pressure from the government to share his Iron Man technology, but he is reluctant to do so. Meanwhile, a new threat emerges in the form of Ivan Antonovich Vanko (Mickey Rourke), a Russian physicist who seeks revenge against the Stark family.
