The film revolves around two women, Candy (Gina Gershon) and Lynn (Jennifer Tilly), who meet in a prison, where Lynn is being held for a crime she did not commit. The two form a close bond, and upon Lynn's release, they begin a romantic relationship. Candy, a seductress with a troubled past, devises a plan to kidnap and rob a Mafia loan shark, Nick (Joe Pantoliano), who had previously wronged her.
